Katy and Melissa are Home!
Many of you have been praying for my friend's Katy and Melissa who have been in Rwanda for the past seven weeks.
I am thrilled to tell you that they returned home last night and are now I'm sure catching up on some much needed rest and spending time with their families.
Please go read Katy and Melissa's journey as they have it chronicled in their blogs. I promise, you'll be blessed as you read about the work God did in their lives as well as in the lives of those they came in contact with. Please continue to pray for both of them as they now have time to really reflect on their trip and what God revealed to them.
Also, please say some extra prayers for Katy as she is having back surgery tomorrow (Friday). Please pray that God ease her anxiety and that His spirit surrounds the surgeons and the operating room and that God be with Katy's parents Carol and Bill and Katy's sister Abbey as they wait during the operation. And please pray for a speedy recovery so that Katy can be ready to go when classes resume for her on August 25th. Thank you so much!
I know Katy and Melissa really appreciate those of you that have lifted them up daily. God has changed lives forever because of them and He's got even more amazing things in store for both of them!
Welcome home, Katy and Melissa! Thanks for representing Him in such an incredible way!

"Follow Your Passion"
Avon has announced the name of Patrick Dempsey's new fragrance. It is to be called "Patrick Dempsey Unscripted." I am continuously amazed at how God continues to use Patrick in my story called "life and how as I read the article about the fragrance the beat of MY own heart was written in the words that describe Patrick's latest venture...
"Unscripted is about loving what you do and doing it in your own unique way."
Those of you that know me know that one of my motto's is, "Do what you love, love what you do." I've said that I will eventually find the job that enables me to do just that....I will definitely do it in a way all my own...My physical limitations don't give me much choice other than to be unique. *wink*
"The fragrance tagline, "Follow Your Passion," captures the true essence of Patrick and his belief that each individual should develop and write their own script for life."
I had to smile when I read that in the article. I don't think "ironic" is a word in God's dictionary but that's the only way I know to describe it...How ironic that the above statement is EXACTLY what Patrick is allowing me to do. It is because of the way God is using him in my life that I am discovering what my passion is, that I am beginning to have the confidence to be able to "follow that passion" develop and "write my own life script" and not the script other people want to write for me. It's honestly because of him that my life script continues at all. If you don't understand any of this, read this again and that might help.
I'm probably the only one that really understands this...I thought I'd share anyway because the parallels just cause me to shake my head and smile at how God works and how He continues using Patrick to help get His message across to me.

2008 Primetime Emmy Nominations
A Big Congratulations to:

Patrick Dempsey (Derek Shepherd) didn't get a nomination this year which is disappointing, but I think it goes without saying that he's got my vote and my support, nomination or not.
And don't even get me started on the fact that Ellen Pompeo (Meredith Grey) wasn't even considered! She of ALL people deserves some recognition! I think 2009 is going to be HER year!
Congratulations once again to Chandra Wilson and Sandra Oh. You'll both represent Grey's Anatomy with style and grace. Best of luck on September 21st...We'll be watching!
A complete list of nominations can be found HERE

One Step At A Time
Heard this song this morning and it fits me so perfectly I wanted to post the lyrics. It's also been added to my music playlist so you can scroll down to the bottom and click on it to listen if it's not already playing.
One Step At A Time by Jordin Sparks
Hurry up and wait
So close, but so far away
Everything that you've always dreamed of
Close enough for you to taste
But you just can't touch
You wanna show the world, but no one knows your name yet
Wonder when and where and how you're gonna make it
You know you can if you get the chance
In your face and the door keeps slamming
Now you're feeling more and more frustrated
And you're getting all kind of impatient waiting
We live and we learn to take
One step at a time
There's no need to rush
It's like learning to fly
Or falling in love
It's gonna happen and it's
Supposed to happen that we
Find the reasons why
One step at a time
You believe and you doubt
You're confused, you got it all figured out
Everything that you always wished for
Could be yours, should be yours, would be yours
If they only knew
You wanna show the world, but no one knows your name yet
Wonder when and where and how you're gonna make it
You know you can if you get the chance
In your face and the door keeps slamming
Now you're feeling more and more frustrated
And you're getting all kind of impatient waiting
We live and we learn to take
One step at a time
There's no need to rush
It's like learning to fly
Or falling in love
It's gonna happen and it's
Supposed to happen that we
Find the reasons why
One step at a time
When you can't wait any longer
But there's no end in sight
When you need to find the strength
It's the faith that makes you stronger
The only way we get there
Is one step at a time
Take one step at a time
There's no need to rush
It's like learning to fly
Or falling in love
It's gonna happen and it's
Supposed to happen that we
Find the reasons why

Praying is a Problem
I'm frusturated.
I've blogged about this before when I blogged on myspace but I'm going to blog about it again because it's still happening....
I generally like to have my prayer time at night. The day is over, I know the things I need to specifically pray about so I lay in bed and start..."Dear Lord...." and it goes well until the next thing I know I'm waking up. Yep! I've fallen asleep praying.
And I tell ya, not even the words of Scott Crenshaw are comforting right now..."What better place to fall asleep than in the Arms of God." Yes, that is true and it is a WONDERFUL place to sleep but this is happening EVERY NIGHT! I know this is untrue but being human I often wonder if God is sitting there going, "Boy, she must not want me to work too badly because she's not dedicated enough to stay awake!"
I'm not saying that night is the ONLY time I pray, far from it, but for me that's the time when things are calmer and less distracting. And I can really focus on what I'm saying (apparently, I'm not THAT focussed).
To try and remedy this, I've tried moving my prayer time to the shower...but I get distracted by the water changing temps, or the shampoo not coming out of the bottle...Little stuff like that so prayer time is all over the place. I've tried starting my prayers before I get too sleepy...No luck. I fall asleep anyway. And forget about my prayers having any kind of orginization...I jump from one person to another back to that first person because I remembered something else. It's like watching a ball in a pin ball machine! I have prayer ADD or something!
I know that God already knows what I'm going to pray before I pray it and that He sees my efforts but it's frusturating for me because there is stuff I WANT and NEED to lift up.
Perhaps when something comes to my mind I need to stop and pray RIGHT THEN...That way when night falls, I can rest easier knowing that it WAS prayed about at some point during the day.
Does anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions?

Say What You Need To Say
I have changed the music on my site to only play one song for the time being. The song is called "Say" by John Mayer. I love the song and hate it at the same time.
I loathe it because for me, it is a constant reminder of something of I cannot do. I have words in my heart that long to be said to one specific person. The only problem is, I can't right now. No, they are not dead, they are just unreachable at the moment. Sometimes when I hear the echoing chorus of "say what you need to say" I want to scream, "I WOULD IF I COULD!!" Because of course, my mind always floats to that one person that I can't reach right now (believe me, I'm trying).
This might not make sense but sometimes I think I have "the blessed burden of thankfulness" I say burden simply because I can't express my thanks to that one person right now and I long to with all my heart. However, I have no doubt that God is working out the details so that I WILL be able to share my heart with this person one day.
I love the song at the same time that I hate the song because while it makes my heart ache, it also reminds me to "say what I need to say" to people whenever I get the chance. It reminds me not to procrastinate. It reminds me to take action....NOW! Whether it be "Thank you" "I love you" "I'm praying for you" etc.. my experience with NOT being able to say these to someone is really teaching me to say them to those I CAN say them to.
I pray the song gives you the same reminder. I hope it urges you to take action. Give that hug, send that letter, make that phone call. Say the words that have been laid on your heart "Do it with a heart wide open."
